I discovered this guy Henry Rollins last night. I had no clue what I was getting into when I went to his show - death metal? old school punk? (like my use of the word *smirk*) or what! Anyways he's a stand-up social commentary like commedian person. Funny and political.
This is him
He opened up with a rebuttal type skit about Ann Coulter then into the story of Constance - that girl who wanted to take her girlfriend to her prom so her school canceled the entire event.
I mean, if you're going to be homophobic, then at least own upto it and just flat out say "You're gay and I find you offensive and you scare me... and I think that your homo lesbian presence at the prom will traumatize kids and ruin the whole damn thing."
go ellen go ellen go!
I just overheard the worlds most aesthetically unappealing girl say that she's a pole dancer and was really looking forward to pole dancing tonight... *mini barf*...
...pole dancing... a sport or a crime?
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
shit, the best part is that at the end of the night my teacher introduced me to her as HIS GIRLFRIEND. then i spat up my drink on both of them.

Henry Rollins (born February 13, 1961 as Henry Lawrence Garfield) is an American singer-songwriter, raconteur, stand-up comedian, spoken word artist, writer, publisher, actor, radio DJ, and activist. After joining the short-lived Washington D.C.-based band State of Alert in 1980, Rollins fronted the California hardcore punk band Black Flag from 1981 until 1986. Following the band's breakup, Rollins soon established the record label and publishing company 2.13.61 to release his spoken word albums, as well as forming the Rollins Band, which toured with a number of lineups until 2003 and during 2006.
ReplyDeleteSince Black Flag, Rollins has embarked on projects covering a variety of media. Wikipedia on black flag:
Black Flag was—and remains—well respected among their underground culture, with their influence primarily in their tireless promotion of a self-controlled DIY ethic and aesthetic. They are often regarded as pioneers in the movement of underground do-it-yourself record labels that flourished among the 1980s punk rock bands. Through seemingly constant touring throughout the United States and Canada, and occasionally Europe, Black Flag established an extremely dedicated fan base. Many other musicians would follow Black Flag's lead and book their own tours, utilizing a word-of-mouth network.
Over the course of the 1980s, Black Flag's sound, as well as their notoriety, evolved in ways that alienated much of their early punk audience. As well as being central to the creation of hardcore, they were part of the first wave of American West Coast punk rock and are considered a key influence on the punk subculture. Along with being among the earliest punk rock groups to incorporate elements and the influence of heavy metal melodies and rhythm (particularly in their later records), there were often overt freestyles, free jazz, breakbeat and contemporary classical elements in their sound, especially in Ginn's guitar playing, and the band interspersed records and performances with instrumentals throughout their career. They also played longer, slower, and more complex songs at a time when many bands in their milieu stuck to a raw, fast, three-chord format. As a result, their extensive discography is more stylistically varied than many of their punk rock contemporaries.
